St Paul's Cathedral virtual tour
The organ
10. The organ was built by T C Lewis and Co, one of the finest English organ builders. It was shipped to Melbourne, installed and first played at the Cathedral's consecration in 1891. Notable features are the Tasmanian blackwood case and the decorated pipes. The console (keyboard) is on a platform behind the choir stalls. The organ was shipped back to Durham, UK, and fully restored by Harrison & Harrison in 1990. It is a central part of the life and worship of the Cathedral.
